Hello all!
Our noon position today was the East end of the Cape Cod Canal. We had an uneventful run from the Island of Cuttyhunk – in the Elizabeth Islands, where we spent last night, up to the Canal while we down rigged our offshore gear, brought up the swivel guns and generally made ready for our upcoming trip to Boston.
Once clear of the Canal we set lots of sail but the wind, predicted to be SW was instead NE-or right on the nose. Very disappointing but we could look back on the great sailing from New Jersey up to Cuttyhunk with some satisfaction.
We are presently at anchor behind the fort on Georges Island in Boston Harbor and will be at the Fan Pier Marina at noon tomorrow.
Cheers,
Captain John
“You may have missed the War of 1812, but spectators will have the chance to watch mock naval battles between two replica tall ships from that era in Boston Harbor next week…”

Greetings,
We are presently at 40-43.2N by 072-25.3W or 6 miles south of Shinnecock Bay, sailing with NW F-3-4.
Good sailing-finally.
Cheers,
John BC
We are at 38-50.5N by 074-44.6W or 8 miles SE of Cape May, NJ in fresh NW breeze and many seasick people. Presently pushing to get under the lee of NJ and get a slant on the NW and predicted W coming up
Cheers,
John BC

Greetings,
Our L/L is 39-56.7N by 075-08.4W or at Penn’s Landing in downtown Philadelphia. It is very hot and the Museum has closed it’s ships due to the heat but we soldier on!
Cheers,
Captain John

Greetings all!
Our position is 39-43.8N by 075-30.1W or just passing Wilmington, Delaware. The heat is again the big story today; no wind, actual temperature 96F and heat index 105F. We are proceeding up the Delaware with Bounty in our wake, the both of us having spent the night at anchor off of Newcastle, Delaware. We had a short swim call at slack water but the current can run so strongly through that anchorage that we kept it quite short.
Our Solstice Celebration was quite creative including the celestial bodies of the Dog Star and Northern Lights, Orion’s Belt and Saturn, with guest appearances by Thor and Doctor McCoy. We then had a round of Nautical/celestial trivia before calling it a day.
Cheers,
Captain John
At present Lynx is at L/L 39-32.1N by 075-46.7W or just past Schaeffer’s Canal House on the C+D canal. It is scorching hot and no wind but the work of the ship continues with lots of oiling, cleaning and more.
We spent last night anchored on the Sassafrass River, anchored up near HMS Bounty who had been in Annapolis while we were in Baltimore. Both ships were in in time for a glorious swim call after the heat of the day and our Parade of Sail.
We will anchor again tonight on the Delaware River and are planning a “Solstice” party-even though we are a day late for it. The crew has been encouraged to come as their favorite celestial body. We’ll see how creative we get. Tomorrow is arrival in Philadelphia mid-afternoon with guns blazing.
Cheers,
Captain John
Greetings all and happy 200 anniversary of the start of the War of 1812! Have we been having some fun! Lynx has been privilaged to attend 2 really great air shows featuring the Blue Angels and we really had the best seat in the house with our stern right on the edge of the “Air Box” and the planes doing acrobatics directly overhead. The weather was perfect, sunny and cool and the folks who sailed with us had a great time.
Tomorrow we will, again be part of a Parade of Sail as the fleet departs Baltimore and begins to work their way to their next ports. For us it’s up to Philadelphia and then on to New England.
Cheers,
Captain John
