Thanks to Capt. Bob and crew of the Lynx for a save passage back from St. Pete Jan 31-Feb 1 to Ft. Myers Beach for a guest crew member. After sailing out of Tampa Bay to the Gulf we had following winds (seemed like 15 - 20 knots) and seas (5 - 10 ft rollers) so we sailed most of the trip making 6 to 7 knots. Motor-sailed only East bound to Ft Myers Beach Friday morning. Didn't mean to, but I lied on my registration form. I did have a seasickness problem. Time and calmer waters cured it. The brilliant night sky, Friday morning's sunrise, my time at the helm of a square topsail schooner, and not-much-help but still; part of the crew for a day will bring me back.

Fair winds to Capt. and crew of the Lynx,
Mike Stow

The forecast calls for a good breeze out of the NNW on the return trip to Fort Myers. Looks like we're in for some great sailing weather! Can't wait!

The Lynx Has been the Pride and Joy of Many here in the Ft Myers Beach Area! We have visitors from Sarasota to Marco island making the day trip over to visit. The visitors are enjoying a great lunch or Dinner and the great tour of the Ship. Some are really lucky enough to secure a spot on the Late afternoon Charter sail from 3:00pm to 5:00pm...What a thrill for all!! We think the Restaurant, Nervous Nellie's,Snug Harbor Marina, and The Lynx have all been Very satisfied with the Response and Interest from The Visitors and Convention bureau, Ft Myers beach Chamber of commerce, the Town of ft Myers beach, all the Local News Media, and all the nearby Locals...Thank You Again!! Rob DeGennaro,Nervous Nellie's Waterfront Eatery

I just got this sad news. Craig was a wonderful man and a great sailor. He devoted his whole life to the classic boats and traditions he loved. He taught me so much about sailing and the sea while he served as captain of Spike Africa, the beautiful schooner I owned for ten years. He was a kind and gentle man and my life was greatly enriched by having him as a friend and a mentor.

Captain John, it was a pleasure meeting you yesterday and showing you our local bridges in preparation for the upcoming Boat Parade. We look forward to seeing the "lit-up" Lynx in the parade and hearing her cannons. Look for us in Lake Santa Barbara at the end of the parade route. Best wishes. ED

We met when you were in at the North Cove Marina in Battery Park, NYC. Today I went online to see how you did up in Kingston and was so happy to see that you and the LYNX are OK. Good thing you left when you did because the entire Hudson River Park was under water. My friend on board the former USCG Lighthouse Tender LILIAC was tied up to Pier 25 and she and her vessel got through without any damage. Same for another friend in Peekskil with a former USCG buoy tender, the EVENING STAR. So tragic about the HMS BOUNTY, her one crew member and Captain. May they rest in peace. Bravo Zulu.
