LYNX Educational Foundation

The Lynx Educational Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children early maritime history in the building of America aboard the 122-foot Baltimore clipper schooner Lynx.

The Lynx Educational Foundation is composed of many people that share a common goal to educate children in an enjoyable, hands-on, maritime program that will stimulate their desire to learn more about American History. We believe that our American freedom is precious and that our children must learn and appreciate the effort it took to win that first defense of freedom, the War of 1812. This particular era truly depicts the struggle to maintain the freedom that our nation's forefathers declared in 1776.

Mission Statement

The Lynx Educational Foundation is a 501 c (3) non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization, dedicated to hands-on educational programs that teach the history of America's struggle to preserve its independence. The maritime challenges during the War of 1812 are taught aboard the American Privateer Schooner Lynx utilizing a comprehensive, interactive program designed to enrich personal achievement through teamwork and the discipline of sail training.

What We Do

The Lynx Educational Foundation is an American history educational organization. We differ from most educational institutions in a unique way; we bring American history back from the past and surround children with the details of the lessons they are learning. We accomplish this environmental immersion by the use of a unique vehicle, the 122-foot American Privateer Schooner LYNX.

Working side-by-side with teachers and school administrators, we offer a complete syllabus so that introduction into the LYNX program from their existing 5th and 8th grade American history course is seamless. The Lynx curriculum combines traditional maritime instruction with modern educational requirements. The Lynx educational program meets the State of California Curriculum Standards and has been officially endorsed by the Orange County Board of Education.
